Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are used to cover (or cap) teeth to reinforce tooth structure, fix broken down teeth and improve function and cosmetic appearance. Our crowns are designed to accurately reproduce the natural character, tooth colour, texture and shape. Modern ceramics guarantee a long functional life provided they are kept clean and are regularly checked.
Crowns can also be used to improve the appearance of a tooth, improve colour or to give it a specific shape or form. They are made either of porcelain, porcelain fused to metal or gold. They can be placed on implants to replace a missing tooth and also to close gaps. Crowns achieve aesthetically excellent results.
Ceramic crowns are the best choice for a natural look and offer excellent aesthetic results. Advantages of a full ceramic crown are:
- Excellent aesthetics
- High durability with stability
- High accuracy
- Biocompatibility
Onlay/Inlay
Broken teeth or leaking fillings can be restored using inlays, which are made from either porcelain or gold. They are much stronger than conventional fillings but more conservative than crowns. CEREC inlays/onlays are available at the York clinic and can be manufactured and fitted in one appointment.
Dental Bridges
When a tooth is missing or lost, leaving a gap, a bridge can be placed using crowns on the teeth next to the gap to hold a false tooth in place.
We use only the highest quality dental materials to fabricate well fitted dental bridges. We work very closely with our dental technician at every stage of fabrication of a bridge to help achieve natural looking, functional teeth that are often cosmetically indistinguishable from surrounding natural teeth.
Benefits of Bridges:
- Can be a permanent alternative to dentures.
- Help restore and maintain the way you bite.
- Prevent unnatural stress on other teeth.
- Distribute forces more evenly on teeth during chewing.
- Prevent drifting and tilting of teeth.
- Improve function and efficiency of dentures.
- Alternative solutions for missing teeth include dental implants and partial dentures.
